Deutsche Bank

FYI, this week's PGA event is playing Friday-Monday.

Is Matt Kuchar the PGA TOUR player of the year?  I would say yes, and the others have three weeks to do something about it.  What a year out of Kuchar, who is singlehandedly making me a lot of money.  Did anyone ever read about his dad's antics at the Masters when Matt was an amateur?

This week, the TOUR has its eye on Boston, while at the same time hoping Earl doesn't have its eye on a washout in Massachusetts this weekend.  Steve Stricker won this event last year, and comes in as the heavy favorite this year too, as he's been playing well enough week in and week out to think he's a top 5-10 lock.  The second choice almost has to be Dustin Johnson, who is showing up on the leaderboard every single week, and is bound to have a good Sunday sometime.  DJ was fourth in this event last year.  I worry Kuchar may need a week to regroup after his biggest weekend as a pro.

Other than Stricker and Johnson, Vijay has history here with wins in 2004 and 2008.  Phil, Tiger and Adam Scott have joined him in the winner's circle at the TPC BOston in recent years..  Angel Cabrera also shows well in Boston, as does Rip Van Furyk, and Rose, Villegas, Ogilvy and O'Hair have multiple Boston top 10s.

Sleeper this week?  Vaughn Taylor is playing his best golf of the year, and he finished third here in 2005.
